The last few weeks have been busy!. Finally got to do some real sight-seeing around Europe. It all started when my brother's family came visiting.
We visited the Mercedes-Benz car museum, just outside of Stuttgart. Got to say, this is a must-see place for one and all!. It has some wonderful pictures of world history in addition to a mind-boggling collection of automobiles.
Weather played spoil-sport for the next few days. We managed a small trip to a indoor amusement park- Sensapolis. It was a fun family activity- for the little ones- this was the best part of the trip!. We made a car journey (through a blizzard), to see the Neuschwanstein castle- rated as Europe's most beautiful castle- but the plan turned out to be a bad one as my toddler hated the very interior of it and wouldn't let us go in at all!. All the effort went in vain!.
I then made a rather prolonged 10 day trip of the Netherlands with my little one. Travelling with a toddler can be really painful!. Although it was only 6 hours away, we had to change 3 trains. Toddlers tend to get very restless towards the end of the journey- and the Dutch are not very tolerant to noise!.
We stayed in Den Haag, with my brother and family. I was surprised at the number of Indians in Den Haag !. It was such a cosmopolitan and multi-cultural city. The weather was wonderful almost all the days we were there. I made a few Indian friends there, who were kind enough to take me around the city, when my brother and sister-in-law were at work. I love the public transport in Europe- its so amazingly convenient!. My new Indian friend showed me a few places around the city like the Clingendael park, which had a petting zoo- that was a hit with my two-year old. That weekend, my hubby joined us and we went to a miniature Dutch exhibition- Madurodam- that was also a big hit with my little one.
It was interesting to note that 25% of the Netherlands is below sea level. They keep the water from flooding there towns by a massive system of dyes and dams!. Nice!.
